Legend Meets Science II is currently in active production. This highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 Discovery Channel documentary continues to expand as new evidence and research opportunities emerge.
Current Production Highlights:
- DNA Research: Samples are being analyzed at NC State University under the direction of researcher Darby Orcutt, using next-generation sequencing technology
- New Evidence: Additional hair samples and other physical evidence continue to be collected and processed
- Expert Interviews: Filming with primatologists and other scientific experts is ongoing
- Field Research: Recent expeditions have yielded new footage, audio recordings, and physical samples
Why the Extended Timeline?
Producer Doug Hajicek has expanded the scope of this documentary significantly beyond the original plan. Rather than rush to release, the team is committed to including all relevant scientific findings and newly discovered evidence. This approach ensures the final film meets the rigorous standards set by the original documentary.
